For survival, we have a natural tendency in life to focus on all that is wrong and negative.
We don’t need to work at finding the negative, it is our natural bias. But what we do have to work at is, to focus on the positive.
It is suggested that to balance out every negative thought or emotion we have, we need to experience or create three positive thoughts and/or emotions, which ideally should last for at least 12 secs each.
There are a few simple ways to achieve this, which have been widely researched and found to help us increase our happiness.
Focusing on:
- Gratitudes or counting our blessings.
- Funny things – telling a story about something funny that happened.
- Good things – Discussing the best things about the day.
